After the US closed its borders to many countries, including the UK and the Schengen area of Europe last March, speculation has been growing about when this would occur. President Trump initially signed the Presidential Proclamation only to overturn it as he was leaving office. However, President Biden decided to reinstate the ban until more Americans had been fully vaccinated.

In September, the US administration announced that it would reopen in "early November," for fully vaccinated foreign nationals but with no announcements with only two weeks to go, airlines grew frustrated and canceled flights. For example, earlier this week British Airways canceled flights to Las Vegas and Tampa until 15 November due to the lack of clarity and rules over last-minute cancellations.

Minutes ago, Bloomberg announced that 8 November had been confirmed as the start date for international arrivals from banned countries and the land border with Mexico and Canada. The White House is expected to make a formal statement today, Friday November, 15. The White House Assistant Press Secretary Kevin Munoz, has also confirmed the story on Twitter.

The full rules of entry are not clear yet, but it is known that this will only apply to those fully vaccinated. In addition, travelers will need to have a Covid-19 test 3 days before travel, participate in contact tracing and wear a mask on their flights.
